GJIMT, through its Eco Club, observed World Ozone Day 2026 with a dedicated awareness session aimed at highlighting the importance of protecting the ozone layer and promoting environmental responsibility. The session focused on the role of the ozone layer in protecting life on Earth from harmful ultraviolet radiation and highlighted global efforts towards the protection and recovery of the ozone layer.
The programme also created awareness about the significance of the Montreal Protocol and the need for continued individual and collective efforts to protect the environment. Participants were encouraged to adopt eco-friendly practices, conserve energy and natural resources, and contribute towards building a cleaner and more sustainable future.
As part of the celebration, participants took a collective environmental pledge to avoid harmful and ozone-depleting substances, promote eco-friendly practices, spread environmental awareness and plant and nurture trees. A sapling was presented as a symbolic gesture of environmental commitment, reinforcing the message of conservation and sustainability.
The programme concluded with a renewed commitment towards environmental protection and responsible action for the well-being of present and future generations.
